Meet Composer Neil Berg

Neil Berg is the composer /lyricist of The Prince and the Pauper which played Off-Broadway for two years at the Lamb's Theater In New York. The New York Times raved that Neil's music "soars on angel's wings." His musical Tim and Scrooge played the inaugural New York Musical Theatre Festival and was voted "one of the best of the fest." A musical based on Heidi was commissioned by the Walden Family Theater in San Francisco and his rock and roll song cycle The Twelve had a successful first reading at the China Club, NYC to a standing room only crowd in early 2008. Neil has toured with his Broadway concert 100 Years of Broadway for a number of years with a variety of musical theater stars. Among them, Michael Crawford, Rita Moreno, Bernadette Peters, Ben Vereen, Betty Buckley, Marc Kudisch, and Brian d'Arcy James.

Neil is the composer of the Broadway-bound musical based on the film Grumpy Old Men. In 2011, the show will debut at Manitoba Theatre Centre starring Len Cariou.

For 15 years Neil has acted as Musical Director and Entertainment Coordinator for the Leukemia Society of America and Covenant house. He lives in Nyack, New York with his wife Rita Harvey and their son Lucas.
